Satellite Oceanography and Meteorology
The Satellite Oceanography and Meteorology (SOM) was launched in 2016, in response to the growing use of remotely sensed satellite data in understanding and identifying important processes and phenomena occurring in the atmosphere and ocean. The SOM provides space for oceanographers, meteorologists, hydrologists and climatologists to publish their research papers on theory, science, technology and applications of satellite remote sensing data of the ocean, atmosphere and climate.
New advances in marine and meteorological satellite applications, including but not limited to:
(1) Ocean dynamic environment monitoring, including sea surface wind field, sea surface height, significant wave height, gravity field and ocean circulation;
(2) Ocean resource development, including offshore oil, offshore wind power, and aquaculture;
(3) Ocean disaster prevention and mitigation, including maritime search and rescue, storm warning, sea ice monitoring, and marine pollution detection;
(4) Weather forecasting and climate research, including the detection and analysis of atmospheric parameters such as temperature, pressure, humidity, precipitation, cloud and aerosol;
(5) Space weather observation, including the monitoring and forecasting of space environment such as ionosphere, radiation belt, solar wind;
(6) AI applications in satellite oceanography and meteorology;
(7) New remote sensing technologies in related fields;
(8) Data and video processing and analysis in related fields.
